Class Objective – The student will learn to:

  1. Understand the fundamentals of Corbin Russwin and Sargent Large Format Interchangeable Core (LFIC) systems.
  2. Identify the components and operation of LFIC cylinders.
  3. Learn proper pinning procedures for Corbin Russwin and Sargent LFIC cores.
  4. Understand the mathematics behind LFIC keying systems and how to apply them correctly.
  5. Learn proper key cutting techniques for LFIC keys.
  6. Recognize common pinning and keying errors and how to avoid them.
  7. Develop confidence in servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining LFIC systems.
  8. Apply best practices for working with Corbin Russwin and Sargent interchangeable core products.

Course Description

This comprehensive course provides locksmiths with a practical understanding of Corbin Russwin and Sargent Large Format Interchangeable Core (LFIC) systems. From basic pinning to precision key cutting, students will gain the knowledge needed to confidently service these widely used commercial locking systems.

One of the most challenging aspects of LFIC systems is understanding the mathematics behind proper pinning and key generation.
