Instructor Biography: Michael Chavez brings more than 40 years of professional carpentry experience specializing in commercial doors, frames, architectural hardware, and field problem-solving. His practical, hands-on approach equips students with techniques they can immediately apply on the job to improve installations, reduce callbacks, and keep doors operating safely until permanent repairs can be completed.

Class Objective – The student will learn to:

  1. Understand the purpose, advantages, and applications of continuous hinges.
  2. Identify the different types of continuous hinges and select the appropriate hinge for various door applications.
  3. Properly prepare doors and frames for continuous hinge installation.
  4. Install continuous hinges using industry best practices.
  5. Diagnose common alignment, fastening, and operational problems.
  6. Perform safe and effective temporary field repairs when immediate hinge replacement is not possible.
  7. Recognize when temporary repairs are no longer appropriate and full hinge replacement is required.
