Class Objective – The student will learn to:

1. Understand the Texas License to Carry (LTC) qualification process.
2. Demonstrate safe firearm handling and operation.
3. Complete the required classroom instruction and written examination.
4. Successfully complete the live-fire qualification using the Texas DPS-approved course of fire.
5. Receive the LTC-100 certificate required to apply for a Texas License to Carry.

Course Requirements

Students must:

• Be 21 years of age or older.
• Bring a firearm they already know how to safely load, operate, and clear.
• Bring 50 rounds of factory-new ammunition (no reloaded ammunition permitted).
• Successfully complete the classroom examination with a minimum score of 70%.
• Successfully complete the live-fire qualification with a minimum score of 175 out of 250.

No firearms instruction or coaching will be provided during the qualification. Students are expected to arrive proficient with the safe operation of their firearm.

Equipment Provided

• Texas DPS-approved B-27 Qualification Target
• Gun rentals available for $10.00 (if needed)

Safety Requirements

• Hearing and eye protection are mandatory.
• Students may bring their own protective equipment or purchase/borrow equipment from Red’s Indoor Range.

Upon Successful Completion

Students who successfully complete both the written examination and live-fire qualification will receive their LTC-100 Certificate, which is required when applying for a Texas License to Carry through the State of Texas.

What to Bring

• Valid Driver’s License
• Firearm you are familiar with and can safely operate
• 50 rounds of factory-new ammunition
• Hearing protection (optional if you wish to use your own)
• Eye protection (optional if you wish to use your own)
• Paper and pen for note taking
• Snacks for classroom breaks
