Course Description

This course provides an in-depth look at cylinder construction, factory terminology, and the engineering concepts behind modern lock cylinders. Students will explore cylinder design, wear patterns, cut forms, and pin configurations while learning how these components work together to ensure reliable lock operation.

Special emphasis will be placed on proper factory procedures, the risks and liabilities of deviating from manufacturer specifications, and the use of multiple key sections to increase the flexibility and security of large key systems. Students will also learn how to identify factory keyways and product numbers across major manufacturers, improving both technical proficiency and inventory management.
